Training Package: Metal and Engineering

This qualification is designed to prepare people to work in occupations such as ship/boatbuilding worker, fabrication engineering worker (cast, light or heavy),or mechanical engineering worker, production welder, surface finisher, engineering CNC operator or equipment maintainer, engineering machining workers, and engineering production workers in general. It is for people who need the competencies to work at the basic production operator level in manufacturing, engineering and related industry areas. Students will acquire skills and knowledge in workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures systems and planning, plus some industry specific skills in a production or process area relevant to current or intended employment.

Certificates I and II

Certificates I and II recognise basic vocational skills and knowledge that meet nationally endorsed industry/enterprise competency standards as agreed for those qualifications by the relevant industry, enterprise, community or professional group. They include preparatory and participation skills and knowledge such as: literacy and numeracy; communication skills; working in teams; workplace technology; and industry specific competencies, of increasing complexity and personal accountability at each level of the Certificate qualification. VET qualifications are offered by some schools, TAFE Institutes, private providers and some universities.
