Quality Assurance Make IT - Qualifications

Occupation Description

Quality assurance officers examine all types of manufactured products to make sure they meet product specifications and standards of presentation and quality.

Quality assurance officers may…

  • study product specifications
  • sample products to determine whether they meet specifications and quality standards, and take corrective action if necessary
  • analyse quality assurance data and make recommendations for improvement
  • communicate with production workers
  • develop systems that promote quality
  • train and assist operators to carry out their quality control functions
  • check details of assemblies
  • compile reports
  • Manufacturers today are tending to seek graduates who can not only carry out quality assurance inspection but also coordinate quality systems.

  • Environment

    Depending upon the nature of the manufacturing enterprise those working in quality assurance may spend time working in a range of environments including office, laboratory, workshop, and on the factory floor.

    Training

    To work as a quality assurance assistant in manufacturing you will usually require a Certificate III in Manufacturing Technology . A Certificate IV in Manufacturing Technology will enable you to work as a quality assurance officer or technician.

    With more experience, and possibly further training, Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or an Advanced Diploma of Engineering), you may work in more senior, technical or management quality assurance occupations.

    Of course, with experience, and possibly further training, you can continue to progress further along a career pathway that could see you in a number of senior management positions.
