Training Package: Metal and Engineering

This qualification is designed for those undertaking electrical or electronics work at a trade level. Students acquire competencies required by an electrical/electronic tradesperson for occupations such as electrical fitter, marine electronics specialist, instrument fitter. Students will also learn about communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures and planning. The course is comprised of mandatory units of competency as well as a range of electrical/electronic trade specialisation units, which can be selected to best support the needs of the occupation, enterprise or workplace.

Certificates III and IV recognise more complex vocational skills and knowledge that meet nationally endorsed industry/enterprise competency standards as agreed for those qualifications by the relevant industry, enterprise, community or professional group. They include training at the apprenticeship level, as well as more advanced skills in: literacy and numeracy; communication skills; workplace technology; and industry specific competencies. VET qualifications are offered by TAFE Institutes, private providers and some universities.
