Training and the constant upgrading of employees' skills are essential to remaining competitive in today's marketplaces. Training can have positive effect upon staff retention and a more efficient and productive operation. It can also help improve your employees' self-esteem and develop and maintain a positive attitude towards their work.
Training Packages
Training Packages are a nationally endorsed set of standards, guidelines and qualifications developed by the Industry Skills Councils such as Manufacturing Skills Australia , to serve the training needs of the particular industry. They also undergo a fairly constant state of revision so that they meet industry's current and future skills requirements. Training packages are used to recognise and assess the skills and knowledge that workers need in their workplace. They are endorsed by the National Training Quality Council and are found at National Training Information Service . Training Packages…

- Qualifications are made up of the Units of Competency (Core, Stream, Elective etc.) that are required for the particular level or occupation within the Industry. The Qualification indicates that the holder is competent in all Units of Competency necessary for that Qualification. A Statement of Attainment is not a Qualification. It indicates that a person has achieved competency in one or more Units of Competency and a set of specific skills, and these Units can credit toward a future Qualification if desired.
- Units of Competency identify a specific workplace requirement and include the knowledge and skills that underpin the competency.
- Assessment Guidelines outline the conditions under which Assessment must take place. They include 'how' the Assessment is conducted and stipulate the requisite qualifications of assessors.
