This is an advanced level qualification for the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) field that aims to develop skills in the management of health and safety issues in the work place. Possible occupation outcomes are senior OH&S officer or safety manager able to work across all industries, including manufacturing. This Advanced Diploma will provide students with the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to work within the field of occupational health and safety at a senior or management level. Students will learn skills that will enable them to develop a systematic approach to managing OH&S within the workplace. This will include conducting an OH&S audit, analysing and evaluating data obtained, and developing and implementing changes to workplace routines, practices and procedures.

The Advanced Diploma (like the Diploma) prepares candidates for self-directed application of skills and knowledge based on fundamental principles and/or complex techniques. It recognises capacity for initiative and judgment across a broad range of technical and/or management functions. The Advanced Diploma is however, a more specialised qualification than the Diploma and signifies skill and knowledge of a greater complexity and a higher level of personal accountability. It is offered in both the VET and Higher Education sectors, by TAFE institutes, universities and private providers.
