Materials scientists study the properties and uses of materials such as non-metallic minerals and polymers and advise on the technical aspects of their manufacture and processing. Materials scientists work in a wide range of manufacturing industries, including those concerned with the processing of minerals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics, paper, electronic devices and packaging.

To become a materials scientist, you usually have to complete a Degree.

Graduates may be eligible for membership of the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia and-or The Institute of Materials Engineering Australasia Ltd.
