Occupation Description A manager of operations working in a manufacturing enterprise will generally be responsible for ensuring that the entire operation runs smoothly and efficiently. An operations manager could work in all sectors of manufacturing. Often people who have developed a high level of technical expertise in a particular manufacturing environment may move into operations management. Training You may sometimes be able to work as an operations manager without formal training, however most employers usually prefer qualifications such as a Diploma of Competitive Manufacturing, an Advanced Diploma of Competitive Manufacturing or a Degree. Of course, with experience, and possibly further training, you can continue to progress further along a career pathway that could see you in a number of senior management positions.
