Training Package: Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Oil Refining

The petro-chemical industry is very diverse with technology ranging from the relatively basic to the very sophisticated. This Advanced Diploma qualification is designed to provide a balanced program of practical, technical and theoretical training relevant to a senior production technician, plant manager, quality control manager or distribution manager in the chemical, hydrocarbons and oil refining or distribution industries. Students will learn how to apply workplace procedures, follow workplace safety procedures, respond to emergency situations, communicate in the workplace, follow environmental work practices, plus some industry specific skills in a process area relevant to current or intended employment.

Advanced Diploma

The Advanced Diploma (like the Diploma) prepares candidates for self-directed application of skills and knowledge based on fundamental principles and/or complex techniques. It recognises capacity for initiative and judgment across a broad range of technical and/or management functions. The Advanced Diploma is however, a more specialised qualification than the Diploma and signifies skill and knowledge of a greater complexity and a higher level of personal accountability. It is offered in both the VET and Higher Education sectors, by TAFE institutes, universities and private providers.
