Occupation Description

Furnishings supervisors oversee the operations of furniture and furnishings manufacturing production. They can specialise as a Production or Design Supervisor and can work in soft or hard furnishings.

Furnishings supervisors may…

  • supervise the cutting, construction or pressing and finishing of furnishing items
  • maintain quality and quantity in the day-to-day operation of the furnishing factory
  • organise the work of other furnishing production workers to make sure that quotas are met
  • develop production schedules
  • maintain daily production records
  • Personal Requirements

  • Environment

    The majority of a furnishings supervisor's work will be on the factory floor, however a percentage of it may also involve office work.

    Training

    To work as a furnishings supervisor you will require a Certificate IV in Furnishing Technology or a Diploma of Furnishing Technology.

    With further training and experience you can continue to progress along a career pathway that could see you in many senior management positions.
